War on Plastics!

Bryn Mawr Market joins the fight against single-use plastics!

We now sell a really good brand of cleaning products called Blueland! You can buy their spray and soap bottles if you want, but the important thing is that you can refill your cleaning solutions by tossing a refill tab in the bottle with water. This saves on costly shipping for water (water is heavy), and helps us all save the world a little bit more!

A picture of some of the Blueland products on our shelves. Drop in and check them out!

We’re also cutting ties with companies who are pushing the plastic bottles on us! One of the first things I did when I took over Bryn Mawr Market was to terminate the store’s contracts with Coca Cola and Pepsi. There are various reasons for doing this, and they’re all good.

Big Pop’s Cons:

Coke and Pepsi each tried to push us to sell more 20oz plastic bottles (apparently it is more profitable for them). As we all know by now, the notion that plastic is recycled is bogus. Though it may be recyclable, it is rarely recycled. We, the people of Bryn Mawr want nothing to do with that green-washed lie! So, no more coke!

Coke has also been a tremendous force for evil throughout the world, especially in developing nations, and Occupied Palestine.

Coke and Pepsi are each a huge corporations that exercises outsized control over the economy in its efforts to get people addicted to their drinks.

Pepsi also wants to push plastic bottles, boo! Pepsi owns Sodastream, which has factories on land stolen from Palestinians, and they take advantage of the apartheid state of Israel to pay incredibly low wages to their workers in Occupied Palestine. Bryn Mawr Market unequivocally states that From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free for all who live there.

And don’t forget: these drinks… they’re not good for us!

Big Pop’s Pros:

A lot of people seem to like their products. You can get them just about anywhere else. (So why the h*ck do you need to get them at our neighborhood store!?)

Our Compromise:

We no longer have contracts with Pepsi or Coke themselves.

Until we get everyone on board with better options, we will carry some of their beverages in cans which are much more recyclable and recycled.

Our Promise:

We have local pop, soda, and other drink companies! Northern Soda has MANY delicious soda pops, and we have a variety of local THC and energy drinks that aren’t nearly as bad for our bodies.
